UPdate

I'm down another 1.2lbs this week!  Not bad after Thanksgiving.  So I've lost 13lbs in my first 4 weeks.

I havent made it back into the workout groove yet since I've been sick.  I did a yoga/pilates workout on turkey day that I organized for my competition and some friends.  It was about the only thing I did other than shovel snow!

So I need to step the workouts up!

Weigh In and Update

I'm still alive!  I was really sick last week and am recovering and getting back to normal.

Here is yesterday's weigh in.

I lost another 2.8lbs for a total of 11.8. Which comes out to 3.89% of my body weight.

I thought that was pretty fantastic given that I was only able to work out once, any other time I was coughing up a storm which led to an asthma attack and a very very sore body.

Back in action this week and plan on coming out of Thanksgiving week with a loss!!!

Husbandly Support

My husband is still complaining about the lack of junk food/fast food, and I keep asking him the same questions.  Do you want a baby?  Do you want to have a healthy lifestyle?  Do you want to live longer?  Or would you rather poison your body with chemicals, processed foods, and fast food?  He always agrees but the next day he brings it up again!  I did give in to him once this week and allowed to have fast food. I chose a junior burger and small chili from Wendys.  It was just OK, it wasn't what my body wanted that's for sure!

I gave into the chocolate (left over halloween candy) once this week and ate half my daily points in just crap.  I realized what I had done and asked him to hide the candy.  And now when he comes up from "doing laundry" he is licking his lips.  So, I think it's time to get the candy out of the house and give it away!!!!  I don't want to create a bad habit where he feels he has to eat behind my back like a kid.

I have to give him credit, I did drastically change everything in one day, BUT I really expected him to be more supportive than he has been.  I'm hoping he will come around.  I made a deal with him that if he shuts up about it and stops pressuring me to have the crap we can have fast food once a week.  I intend to keep it at ONCE a week!  So we'll see.

Weigh in

Did my weigh in today for the end of week 2 and I lost 3.0lbs this week.  I did 3 light workouts because I've been so sick (30 mins elliptical, 30 mins wii fit, 45 beginners yoga on demand) so I wasn't expecting that much.

So that is 9 pounds down in 2 weeks and I'm feeling as strong as when I started going into week 3.

Sickly, Still

It's been a long sickly week!  I haven't had a lot of energy and have pretty much been at home all week.  I did manage a couple workouts but nothing very intense.  Tomorrow is the end of the 2nd week weigh in and I'm not worried.  I have been eating properly and I know I'll be down atleast a couple pounds.

I dont know why but I have a hankering for SHRIMP!  I would love some input on your favorite shrimp recipes.

Another Question

Do you keep a food journal?  What types of things do you track?

A few of the competitors in my weight loss group struggled with their weight loss this week.  I'm want to encourage them in any way I can, offer tips, advice, etc. (Not that I am an expert or anything)  I think a food journal is a great place to start.  So what are your thoughts?

I found this article from Science Daily that says food journalling doubles weight loss.  Has that been your experience?

MeatLoaf

This Meat Loaf recipe is on the menu tonight.  I tweak it a little bit, I only use 4 strips bacon and I cook it first so I can get rid of the fat.  And I use a 1.25lb pkg of turkey since that's what I can find.  I usually can only find 1lb packages of ground pork so I freeze the other half for next time.  I usually make this 8 slices for 6pts a slice.  It's a fantastic moist meatloaf! Everybody I have ever made it for agreed.

Sickly!

First, Last nights ranch seasoned pork chops was pretty good.  I thought it was a bit strong but it was devoured and will be on the menu again.

But more importantly, I'm getting a cold and feel like I have very little energy.  I didn't make it to the gym over the weekend because of the trip and then yesterday I lounged all day.  So I'm struggling with the decision, do I push myself and get the work outs in?  Or do I relax and let my body get over the cold?  I'm not sure what the best move is.  Eitherway, I am eatting on target.  What are your thoughts?

Recipe/Dinner tonight

I saw this on a commercial the other day and it looked fantastic! On weight watchers: lean boneless fat trimmed cooked pork chops are 1pt an ounce. And the ranch mix adds 2pts for the whole meal/divided by the # of servings. We're going to try this tonight with a baked baby red potato (with salt/pepper/spray butter) and veggies.

RECIPE:
1 packet (1 ounce) Hidden Valley® Original Ranch® Salad Dressing Mix
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Dash of paprika (optional)
6 pork loin rib chops about 1-inch thick

Preheat the oven to 450ºF.

In a small bowl, add the Seasoning mix, together with the salt, pepper, and paprika and mix well. Liberally sprinkle the porkchops on both sides with the seasoning mixture.

Arrange the chops on a baking sheet or try with a broiler rack. Bake the pork chops for 20 minutes, turning once until browned or an internal temperature of 160ºF is reached. Serve immediately

Weigh in

Woohoo!  I lost 6 pounds for my first week!

Travel outcome

The challenges of travels!  I know that travelling, especially if you fly, makes eating right very difficult!  I was DETERMINED this past weekend to succeed on my trip to Canada.  We packed sandwiches for dinner Friday night (to eat before the border!). A few to go pringles containers, and granola bars. We had western Alternative bagels and weight watchers cream cheese for breakfasts (hotel had a toaster).   And since we were unable to take produce across the border the first thing we did was stop at a grocery store in Canada and buy stuff!  We bought apples, oranges, bananas, yogurts, pea pods.  Those became all our snacks in between meals. We did buy a few meals up there...for lunch saturday we had the most delicious veggie soup and sandwiches at a little bistro. It was so fresh and natural it was fantastic!  Then dinner we went to a seafood restaurant and had salmon, rice, and veggies.  Yesterday on the trip back we stopped at a grocery store for lunch...bought some premade sandwichs, apples, and a treat. We made it happen, I tracked my points and though I did use weekly points I was VERY VERY happy with the how well we did.  It has got to be the best travelling/point tracking experience I've had.  Maybe I'm learning?

Travelling

I am taking my best friend on a trip to Canada this weekend for her birthday.  We are both participating in the weight loss competition that I started so we were preplanning all our meals.  We were going to pack as much as we could both for tracking point and to save money.  Allowing a couple meals out while we are up there.  THEN somebody told me you can't take fruit, vegetables, dairy, etc across the border!  That really flipped me for a loop!  Now I don't know what I am going to do!  I know I can control the dinner we eat tonight before crossing the border. Then I can take the alternative bagel I bought.  After that I guess we're going to have to stop at a grocery store along the way.  We'll see.  I dont like the unknown...makes me nervous big time!

Support

Normally when I am working on eating healthy my husband is on board.  Yea, sometimes he'll want to give in to his food cravings but for the most part he is supportive.  We both need to be eating better and working out...PERIOD!

I started my competition and made changes as of Monday.  He has been super cranky with me about everything.  In the last few days he has eaten pizza in front of me and has encouraged me to eat halloween candy so he wouldn't feel guilty eating in front of me, which I voiced my opinion about but wasn't a big deal.  Then he wanted to go out for breakfast this morning and I said that I would prefer not to.  Apparently it was festering because he's cranky!

So after this morning's crank issues, lol, I asked him why he has been like that all week.  He said that he wants me to lose weight but he feels limited.  That he can't eat what he wants, he can't do the things he wants, we can't do what we normally do (eat out) and he doesn't like it.

I am so beyond frustrated with him right now.  We are both unemployed right now which means a lot of time at home, together!  And traditionally, thinking back to my old blog, I did MUCH better when he was away on the ship.

So what do you do when the people around you are struggling with being supportive?

Holiday ResoLOSEtion

While I know that I need to work on myself and WHY I keep putting the weight back on, I think I just need to start making effort again while I do.

A couple weeks ago while watching TBL I had a thought....I should rally my friends and see if we can do our own competition and start working out together, challenge each other, etc. So came up with idea, pitched it to a few friends and boy did it take off. I talked about holidays, and gaining, then out of guilt and wanting a new start people jump on a fad starting 1/1, how most people don't stick to their resolutions, etc. I was expecting to get maybe 5 friends.

In the last two weeks I have had over 20 people (friends and friend of friends) ask to join in and compete! We each put in $20 and the money is divided between the 1st and 2nd place "losers!" based on % lost. I never expected it to be as popular as it has been. So I have been managing this group, offering advice, support, scheduling work out dates, etc. It's been SOOO motivating to talk about our various outlooks on food, working out, etc. We've discussed the challenges we all face, how they affect some but not others, etc. It has truely been inspiring.

So we started the competition on Monday 11/01 and it runs for 13 weeks and ends on 01/31.

I've taken my starting pics/measurements. I'm planning my meals, working out and considering I am running the group I REALLY feel like I need to set a precendent and keep going strong myself. Hopefully, actually I KNOW, that running this group I will have a successfull 3 months.

Over the 3 months I do plan on working on habits and the reasons I continually go back to the bad ones. SO we'll go from there...

Starting Weight Pics

Welcome

I had previously posted as Operation Stick To It and somewhere along the way lost my motivation. I am currently at my heaviest ever and am trying to find my way back.

My main motivation is wanting to start having babies and knowing it will be very difficult at 300lbs. I have never been very good at maintaining a healthy lifestyle and putting effort into myself.

So here I am...trying again.
